Floorings

  • Hard Aggregates for Floor – Surfacing

    Description

A cementitious ready mix compound with very hard granulated of predetermined granular size containing carborandum to generate hard cementitious floor top. The hardening compounds are selected for their physico – chemical qualities.
    Available in Grey colour.

    Uses

It is used as an economical and ready to use component for making hard floor surfaces suitable for warehouses, quays, circulation lanes. It is suitable for :

    • Small mechanical engineering workshops
    • Precision engineering workshops
    • Parking lots, service stations, garages, etc.

    Advantages

It provides the following beneficial properties :

    • Increase resistance to abrasion
    • Resistant to mechanical wear
    • Can be applied easily on freshly laid floor surfaces and slabs.

    Coverage

    • Approx. 3.5 to 6.0 kgs. per M2 area for a thickness of 2-3 mm surfacing.
    • For Light duty 3.5 to 4.0 kgs. / M2
    • For Medium duty 4.5 to 5.0 kgs / M2
    • For Heavy duty 5.5 to 6.0 kgs / M2

    Preparation of Substrate

The grade of concrete for substrate should be preferably M20. At the time of construction of floor, as soon as the plasticity of the mix is reached, smooth out the surface of the freshly poured concrete and flatten off with the vibrating straight edge. this concrete should be dense and compact which could be obtained by adding ADDCONplast Super (0.3 % by weight of cement). It is preferable to use a mechanical trowel for smoothing operation.

    Spreading and Flattening out

The ready mix ADDCON Hardtop compound will be spread over the newly laid smooth concrete surface at a stage when a nail mark of 3-4 mm will be obtain at standard pressure. The spreading is done by hand or with a suitable apparatus at the rate of Approx. 4.5 to 6.0 kg. per M2 of slab area. Wait till the mixture has been uniformly moistened by the surface water contained in the green concrete. Smooth out with the mechanical trowel which should be maintained perfectly flat, operating at a low speed.

    Smoothing out

The final smoothing, if necessary, should be carried out sometime later with the mechanical trowel by operating at a low speed.

    Curing

Immediately after the flooring surface is finished, it should be protected from rapid drying. As soon as the surface is hardened sufficiently, to prevent damages to it, the same should be kept continuously moist for atleast 3 days by means of wet gunny bags or pooling water on the surface. During this period the flooring should not be exposed to any traffic.

    Important Recommendations

The joints of shrinkage and insulation, notably around pillars, shall be formed about every 4 to 5 m in both directions. one must take into account the existing joints already in the base preparation and for the alignment of pillars and circulation lanes. The above joints should be cut into about 1/3 of the thickness of the slab.
Greater thickness of hard surface may be achieved by spreading more compound on the green concrete.
According to the ambient temperature and the kind of cement used in the slab, the pre – usage waiting time is :

    • 48 to 72 hours for pedestrian traffic
    • 7 to 10 days for light traffic vehicles
    • 28 days for normal traffic

    Colour

ADDCON EPOFLOOR Selfsmoothening is available in Addcon Standard colours. Special colours are available only for certain minimum quantity.

    Instructions for use

    Surface preparation

The substrate must be structurally sound and level, clean, dry and free from all traces of loose material, laitance, oil and grease. Unsound material must be removed before proceeding.

    Priming

After proper cleaning prime the surface with ADDCON EPOFLOOR Primer
Before starting the mixing operation ensure that the moisture on the substrate is below 4 % even after priming. If the moisture is below 4 %, start mixing operation. First add the total quantity of one supplied container of A1 Component into one supplied container of A-Component. Wash thoroughly the A1- Container with A-Component so that total A1 Component is transferred into A-Component. Then mix this to homogenize the colour. This coloured liquid is now ready for batching. Weigh the components as per the batch size. The batching with this coloured liquid should be in the ratio of :
    Coloured liquid: Compo B : = 2.35 : 1.0 : 1 (for 0.5 mm) by weight
    Coloured liquid: CompoB : CompoC = 2.25 : 1.0 : 3.5 (for 1 mm) by weight
    Coloured liquid: CompoB : CompoC = 2.25 : 1.0 : 4.0 (for 2 mm) by weight
After weighment add C-Component into the Coloured liquid for 1 & 2 mm and mix into a homogeneous mass without lumps. At this stage the mixed material can be kept for air detrainment. Finally add B-Component and mix for 3 minutes. For successful mixing follow Addcon Application Manual for Floor Toppings and Coatings.

    Application

Immediately after mixing pour the homogeneous material on the primed surface. In case of ADDCON EPOFLOOR Primer best result is obtained if applied while the surface is still tacky. After pouring spread evenly by using proper notch trowel for 1, 2 & 0.5 mm thickness following right technique otherwise variation in thickness will appear. Finally use the proper spike roller and roll on till the surface is acceptable, but within the workable time. In this process cover the entire area. For successful application follow Addcon Application Manual for Floor Toppings and Coatings. Effective measures should be taken during the hardening time so that no foreign matters fall on the laid floor, which will spoil the aesthetic of the surface.

    Cleaning

Clean all tools and equipments immediately after use with cleaner. Once hardened, the material can only be removed mechanically. Wash soiled hands and skin thoroughly with warm soap water.

    Limitations

    • Maximum permitted gradient 5%
    • Minimum substrate temperature + 10° C
    • Maximum substrate temperature +40°C
    • Maximum moisture content of substrate 4%
    • Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above due point.

    B) High Build Coating

ADDCON EPOFLOOR Coating is for the application of high build coating. The thickness will be 350 micron. The detail is as following.

    Colour

ADDCON EPOFLOOR Coating is available in Addcon Standard colours. Special colours are available only for certain minimum quantity.

    Instructions for use: Surface preparation

Concrete: should be free from loose and friable particles, cement laitance, dust, dirt and other contamination. It should be dry, dense and grippy.
Steel: blast cleaning is the best, if cleaned alternatively should be free from rust.
Epoxy Screed : the top surface of the screed should be roughened with grinding stone. The dust should be cleaned thoroughly. For old floor the contaminations should be cleaned thoroughly with soap water, acid etc. Then dried.

    Priming

Before priming ensure that the moisture content has come down to 4%. Then prime the prepared substrate with ADDCON EPOFLOOR Primer.

    Mixing

First add the total quantity of one supplied container of A1 Component into one supplied container of A-Component. Wash thoroughly the A1- Container with A-Component so that total A1 Component is transferred into A-Component. Then mix this to homogenize the colour. This coloured liquid is now ready for batching. Weigh the components as per the batch size. The batching with this coloured liquid should be in the ratio of :
    Coloured liquid : Component B = 2.35 : 1.0 by weight.
To the Coloured liquid add B-Component and mix for 3 minutes. For successful mixing follow Addcon Application Manual for Floor Toppings and Coatings.

    Application

Immediately after mixing pour the homogeneous material on the primed surface and spread out evenly with a good quality roller brush. In this process cover the entire area. For successful application follow Addcon Application Manual for Floor Toppings and Coatings. Effective measures should be taken during the hardening time so that no foreign matters fall on the laid floor, which will spoil the aesthetic of the surface.

    Cleaning

Wash tools with ADDCON Cleaner immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

    Handling precautions
